First few days with Branko

My blood pressures kept dropping, so I would feel nauseous and light headed. Now looking back at these pictures, my lips were a tad pale! I was very nervous to stand up for the first time. I was able to stand at the side of the bed with the nurse later on in the day, but didn’t walk to the bathroom until almost 24 hours post delivery. I always tell patients to get up and move as soon as possible, but I just knew I would pass out if I did. 

Rocking the hat Auntie Karen knit for him. I totally did not plan on everything matching, from his hat to my pajamas to the blanket!

Auntie Jodi bought us Jersey Mikes for dinner the first night and Auntie Mary bought us Chipotle the second night. Jodi also got us dessert the second night from our the Cheesecake Factory, Branko got his own cheesecake and it was just about as big as him! Patrick and I both had our own and it was DELICIOUS! Thank you both for the meals! Patrick really got to know his way around the hospital. My parents tried to send us flowers, but with covid, the hospital wouldn’t allow them in. Our moms have made sure our freezers are full of meals that are ready to go, as I’m writing this, a month later, we still have a freezer full of meals! It’s been so nice. 

Here’s Ashley, the nurse who took care of us for the c section and helped me out when my blood pressures went down to the 70s and I was seeing stars. Fun fact, Ashley was one of my main preceptors when I started working in labor and delivery at Froedtert!

Ashley snuck some flowers in for us, it helps when you have badge access to the hospital!

Here are Raven and Jenna meeting Branko these two threw me a baby shower with all the work girls! They also brought us coffee in the morning. It was much needed! Night 2 is exhausting as babies cluster feed literally every hour, if not more!

Here’s our guy with his matching hat and shoes from Auntie Karen. We got tons of compliments!

Here’s Anna! Anna and I went to nursing school together at UWM, she actually helped me get the job at Froedtert. She’s been one of go to people with questions about breastfeeding. 

Patrick got me this onesie for Mother’s Day, it matches our pregnancy announcement, I knew this had to be our going home outfit. I should’ve covered up his hands while in the hospital, he really did a number on those cheeks!

My mom gave me this yellow blanket. My dad bought this blanket to take home my oldest brother from the hospital, then they took home the rest of us with this blanket too. 

Not so sure about this car seat thing. 

Walking to the car as a family of 3!

He was losing his mind as Patrick was in the pharmacy picking up my pain medication, didn’t have a paci, so my finger it was. He eventually eased into the whole car ride thing, now he falls asleep instantly. 

We meant to drink this champagne in the hospital, but celebrated our first night home. 

Had to take a picture of the weather the day he was born, it was gorgeous!
